Hello! [29 Apr 2005|09:46pm]

I'm MissCassius, another one of those student artists!
You see, I'm trying to raise money for a trip to Tokyo to visit the university I will be attending next year. So I got to work on a piece of art that I'm rather proud of. I'm sad to see it go, but I need the money. :)

It's been so long since I've done RHPS fanart! And Magenta has always been one of my favourite characters, so I chose her as my subject. Please have a look at the piece, if you can. :D

To the art...

Many thanks,

Help me, veterans! [22 Oct 2004|10:52pm]

[ mood | curious ]

I'm a virgin at being Magenta physically, although I have a great voice for her. I'm looking to get the Time Warp maid outfit, but don't have enough time to make my own right now. Anyone in Newark, DE ,or greater DELMARVA area, that could possibly give me tips on where to search for the dress/apron/shoes, I've already got hair long enough to tease up, and would adore your help!

When and if I find the outfit, I might have to ask for possible tips from all of you lovely Mags on makeup. I've looked at your pictures, you guys are AWESOME.

I also saw Stephanie, from Newark's Formal Dress Optional cast belongs here:

Stephanie, you're an amazing Magenta. By FAR my favorite. I'm a friend of Lauren's, her big little sister? Haha.

Thanks for any help you can give an inexpirianced Magenta-lover!

Costume Update [25 Sep 2004|04:47pm]

[ mood | content ]

I have been working diligently on my costume. For a first-year attempt at Magenta, I hope I'm doing well... It's at various stages of completion.
Dress: Just need to shorten the sleeves and raise the hem of the skirt. The cuffs and collar are stitched on.
Apron: still have to create and attach the over-the-shoulder straps and finish up the sides of the apron. I have the lacing and the waist ties attached.
Hat/Doily thingy: Just have to attach the bow to the back
Boots: I am NOT going to modify them. I'd just screw them up....
Duster: K-mart, + additional colored feathers. COMPLETE.

I can't wait 'til I can use it.

HELP! [13 Sep 2004|09:43pm]

[ mood | frustrated ]

I need help with a Magenta costume. I have the hair (naturally), The make-up, the undies and the bra. The apron, the maid hat and the feather duster will be easy, I hope. I can also taylor a dress from goodwill or salvation army. I especially need help finding a good pair of boots that aren't expensive. I am going to be the Time Warp Magenta, since I am way too modest to do the dinner or bedroom versions. Any suggestions, since right now, I might have to add pleather or vinyl leggings to a pair of my old 1 inch heels? And I REALLY don't want to do that.

[29 Jun 2004|10:18am]

Well, I think I've made some improvements; thanks for everybody's suggestions from the last post.

I do have a question, though - - regarding "drawing in" lower lashes. This is something I've been thinking about trying for a while, especially because I have so much trouble wearing fake lashes. (I usually only use the fake lashes for special occasions, because quite often they give my eyes a really nasty reaction. Last time I wore them two shows in a row, I could hardly drive the next day.) The only thing is that I have no idea how to draw them on. I've never done it, and I don't think anybody on my cast does it. I don't want to end up looking like something outta Clockwork Orange. ^_^; Does anybody have any helpful examples/pictures/diagrams?

Also - - it's been brought to my attention that Magenta doesn't really wear blush. This appears to be true, and I never really understood why so many shadow-cast Magentas wear gobs and gobs of blush on the fronts of their cheeks. I mostly wear it to emphasize my cheekbones. I'm a chubby bastard, and I really need all the definition I can get when I'm onstage.

And here's a little unrelated observation - - you know the creation scene, where they're about to bring Rocky out of the tank, and everybody's clapping for Frank's speech? Is it just me, or do a lot of people who play Magenta make her look like a total retard the way she claps in this scene? I mean, I know she opens her arms a _little_ wide when she claps, but she's not trying to flap her arms and fly away, for Pete's sake. O_o
I dunno, that's just one of my little nitpicky peeves... --;

Makeup tips? [12 Jun 2004|10:31pm]

[ mood | excited ]

Hi folks. I'm looking for some helpful hints/criticism here.
I've been playing Magenta for about a year and a half now, but the last couple months I've gotten sort of... lazy with my makeup. I keep thinking I'm forgetting something, or I'm not doing something quite right, and I'm trying to figure out if there's something I can do to improve it.
Here are a couple pictures of me pre-show:
Do you guys have any suggestions, or am I doing all right? It would be muchly appreciated.

Magenta's gloves [09 Jun 2004|11:01am]

Hey everyone. First of all I wanted to thank whoever helped me out on my last post about Magenta's takeover scene wig. I have another question for whoever can answer:
Out of curiosity, for takeover or space scene (whatever you call it) do you wear the gloves Magenta and Riff do?

Second, how would I go about making these gloves? Magenta and Riff pictureCollapse )

Thanks so much in advance!

HOORAY FOR THE AUDIENCE! [08 Jun 2004|06:21pm]

[ mood | ecstatic ]

Woo hoo! HOORAY FOR OUR WONDERFUL AUDIENCE! Our cast (Formal Dress Optional, of Newark, DE) is having an "Audience Appreciation Night" on June 19th, and we've been handing out ballots for the last 3 weeks for people to vote for which cast members they would like to play each Rocky part for the 19th... I was VOTED into Magenta, and I'm thrilled! "They like me, they REALLY like me!"

It's special when you are in a cast where everyone plays multiple roles, and it changes every week... Magenta is and has always been my favorite character, so it rocks to be honored by our audience like that. Without them... we don't have a show.

The rest of Audience Appreciation Night includes free prop bags, door prizes, and our most faithful audience members will be chosen to come up and "re-de-virginize" the CAST MEMBERS... So it should be a really fun night... Plus, it's the rebirth of our cast's "American Gothic" tableau (ie. Mags, Riff, & Columbia are gonna start doing the church scene at the beginning again, beginning with our show on the 19th!)

Anyway, just wanted to say hey and share my glee share with all my fellow Magentaphiles! Anyone in the Philadelphia/Delaware/MD area should try to make it to this one... Should be an AWESOME show...

Luv, Stephanie

More Hair Madness!!! [19 May 2004|01:28pm]

[ mood | bouncy ]

To add to what cast_mom was saying about doin' up her own hair for Mags... Here are a few of my pics from last week where I had the "Best Magenta Hair... Ever."

See what you think! I was very proud of my lovely locks... My hair is normally so straight and un-curlable... This week it was BOUNCY... and it STAYED THE WHOLE SHOW... PLUS most of the next day! Woo! YAY FOR OVERNIGHT BRAIDS & FOAM CURLERS!

my creation!! [15 Apr 2004|10:10pm]

[ mood | artistic ]

Hey all, I have just recently finished creating my very own Pat Quinn website! http://www.patriciaquinn.co.uk It's quite cute and kitsch, and you won't learn anything new from it but, I'm really interested in having a big 'Fans' section...theres a few pics there already but I eventually want to make it huge! Anyone who wants pics of themselves as Magenta or Nation or whatever up on the site, feel free to get in contact with me! ( BlondieLovesMe@aol.com )Also feel free to email me with any comments or suggestions, bearing in mind that I am pretty much a computer idiot :-)
Also - fab news that I am very excited to share... I will be a Transylvanian this Saturday!!! The part of Magenta is very much unavailable (sob) but I am happy to be a Transylvanian. This is my first part in a cast! Perfect excuse to run around a crowded cinema doing the Timewarp...

I want all of you to read this. It was written the day after Halloween.

I played Magenta in my local RHPS and will probably do it again this year. It was a WONDERFUL experience and brought me into contact with people I never would have talked to on my own (Who knew preps liked RHPS?). Anyway, just read the song parody inspired by my crazy Aunt Flow and comment there.
